Skyblock server FAQ: friendly answers for beginners
No question is too basic. Each answer below stands on its own, so jump to whatever you're wondering about.
Getting started
What is Skyblock in Minecraft?
Skyblock is a Minecraft gamemode where you start on a small island floating over the void and grow it into a thriving base from very few resources. On a server, each player or team gets an island of their own, and SunRealms (web.sunrealms.net) runs a skills-based version.
What does skills-based Skyblock mean?
Skills-based Skyblock adds RPG-style progression to the island formula: everyday activities such as farming and foraging build up skills over time, and bosses give you goals to train for. SunRealms and AkumaMC each describe their Skyblock this way.

Is Skyblock good for beginners?
Yes. Skyblock starts small, so there's very little to learn on day one, and every step builds on the last. A seasonal server such as SunRealms (web.sunrealms.net), which opens a new season every six weeks, also lets newcomers start alongside everyone else.
Do I need to pay to play Skyblock on SunRealms?
No. SunRealms is free to play at web.sunrealms.net, and the server says everything in the store can also be earned in game.
Can I play Skyblock with friends?
Yes. Friends on Java and Bedrock can play together on a crossplay server, which SunRealms (web.sunrealms.net) and AkumaMC (web.akumamc.net) both are. Many Skyblock servers also let you add friends to your island.
Editions and devices
Which Minecraft versions can join SunRealms Skyblock?
Java Edition versions 1.8 to 26.3 can join SunRealms at web.sunrealms.net, and so can Bedrock on Windows, iPhone, iPad, Android, Xbox, PlayStation and Switch using port 19132.
Do I need a port number to join?
Only on Bedrock. Java players just type the address, web.sunrealms.net. Bedrock players enter the same address plus port 19132, which is also the port for AkumaMC (web.akumamc.net).
Step-by-step help for every device is in our Bedrock guide.
Where are the SunRealms servers located?
SunRealms has servers in North America and Europe, reached through one address, web.sunrealms.net. AkumaMC, at web.akumamc.net, also has servers in North America and Europe.
Seasons and progress
Will my Skyblock island reset?
On a seasonal server, a new season brings a new map. SunRealms and AkumaMC each start a new season every six weeks, and on SunRealms each one has its own map and economy, with store ranks and Sunbits carrying over.
What happens if I fall into the void in Skyblock?
In vanilla Minecraft, falling into the void kills you and the items you were carrying are lost. Servers can handle it differently, so crouch near edges and put fences or slabs around your island to be safe.
More early-game safety tips are in our first island checklist.
Fair play and help
Does SunRealms have anti-cheat?
Yes. SunRealms runs strict anti-cheat on every realm, Skyblock included. AkumaMC (web.akumamc.net) runs strict anti-cheat across its seven gamemodes. Join SunRealms at web.sunrealms.net (Bedrock port 19132).
