What you do on SunRealms Skyblock

SunRealms describes its Skyblock as skills-based, and it's built around four things: bosses, farming, foraging and island building. Here's what each one means if you're new to the genre.

Island building

Your island is home. It's where you'll set up farms, keep your things and build whatever you like, and it grows as you do.

Farming

Crops are one of the first things you'll work on. On a skills server, farming is usually more than a way to get food: it's one of the activities that moves you forward.

Foraging

In skills Skyblock, foraging usually means chopping trees for wood. It keeps you stocked with building materials, and it typically counts toward your progress too.

Bosses

Bosses give you something big to aim for. Gear up, practise, and take them on when you feel ready.

Seasons: a new one every six weeks

Every SunRealms realm, Skyblock included, runs in seasons. Each season has its own map and economy, and a new one starts every six weeks. Here's how it works:

Carries over

  • Ranks bought on the store
  • Sunbits, the network-wide currency

New each season

  • A fresh map and economy
  • Season items such as crates and sellwands

For a beginner, a new season every six weeks means you can start alongside everyone else instead of joining years behind, with your store ranks and Sunbits coming with you.

Is SunRealms pay-to-win?

SunRealms puts it plainly: everything in the store can also be earned in game. If you like the look of something in the store, there's a way to reach it by playing. Strict anti-cheat runs on every realm as well, which keeps things fair for people who play honestly.

PvP, if you want it

Skyblock is mostly about building, but every SunRealms realm has a PvP arena with kits and lifesteal. In lifesteal PvP, winning a fight typically takes health from the loser and gives it to the winner. Kits usually hand you a ready-made loadout, so you can jump straight in.

The rest of the SunRealms network

Skyblock is one of six SunRealms realms. When you fancy a change of scenery:

  • Gens: the longest-running realm, now on its 30th season, with 49 generator types to unlock.
  • Prison: an OP Prison with 14 themed mines, around 40 custom pickaxe enchants, 10 bosses and gangs.
  • Dungeons: combat across 20 zones with heroes who fight beside you. It's a server gamemode, not Mojang's spin-off game Minecraft Dungeons.
  • Survival: classic Minecraft survival with the SunRealms community.
  • Cobblemon: catch, train and battle Pokémon-style creatures with the Cobblemon mod. The SunRealms Discord has the current join instructions.

Sunbits, the network-wide currency, is shared across all of them.
